Admitted to the Ghana Bar in 1977, Mr. Curtis specializes in the field of company law, corporate structure, and foreign direct investment, which spans various areas of law and business. He advises on all aspects of the operation of companies, such as construction of articles of association and shareholders’ agreements, directors’ duties and powers and shareholders’ rights, disputes, and directors’ duties. His work involves all advisory and litigation aspects and covers areas such as takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and all aspects of corporate/commercial litigation.

Mr Curtis’ practice is predominantly focussed on complex, high-value business disputes and transactions, often with an international and offshore aspect. His neutral and thorough ability to analyse scenarios and a dynamic approach focused on solutions has drawn an enviable international client base. He was also elected the Former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Ghana 2001-2008, Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle constituency and a member of various committees and Boards in Ghana.

Called to the bar in 1982, Ms. Smith is an Arbitrator and expert on commercial law and chancery, real estate, media law, and alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Smith has been a practitioner for over 25 years and is also the former Deputy Attorney General, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ghana 2001-2005, and former Minister of Aviation from 2006-2009, and serves on various boards.

Ms. Smith believes passionately that public bodies should act in a fair and open way, and that the law and lawyers have a key role in ensuring that happens. She is best known in the field of commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

Ms. Smith sees the objective of litigation as being to secure for the client the most advantageous result in the least costly and least time consuming way possible.

Ms. Smith has clients and connections to most companies on Ghana’s Club 100, among others.

The Doctor of law is a consultant for Third World Network (TWN), a Legal and Constitutional Policy Fellow at the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Accra.He is aConsultant-Coordinator at the Civic Forum Initiative (CFI) – an NGO Coalition that in 2008 promoted peaceful, free and fair elections in Ghana.

Dr. Sarfo’scredentials as a consultant are advanced and well-established. He was a Consultant to develop Strategic Development Plan for the Judicial Training Institute, Ghana (completed). Dr. Sarfo is a Consultant for Judicial Service of Ghana to prepare report on improving “Doing Business in Ghana” through the courts.Furthermore, he is a Consultant for Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) on Serious Fraud Office Act, and a Consultant/Lecturer for Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana)/International Centre for Transitional Justice on Teaching Transitional Justice at the University.

Dr. Sarfo is a Lead Researcher at the Africa Governance Monitoring and Advocacy Project (AfriMAP) in the area of Justice Sector and the Rule of Law – monitoring Ghana’s compliance with AU documents on human rights, rule of law, democracy and good governance

He is a Lecturer of the Law Faculty, University of Ghana, and a keen commercial, mining, energy and international law practitioner.

Samuel is an expert in commercial/corporate law. The Former Dean of Law, University of Tasmania, Australia, co-author of ‘Torts in Principle’ (LBC 2005), has served as a UNDP consultant in Somalia and Vietnam.He is also an expert in International Law with a particulate focus on development, tariffs and customs and trade and investment issues.

Samuel has served as a UNDP consultant and advisor in Somalia, the Sudan, Vietnam and more recently in the Lao PDR. Sam has also worked as a Consultant to the governments of Vanuatu and Nauru.

He has received several awards and fellowships in various areas of specialization. Hisawards include a United Nations Fellowship in Geneva and an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship with the Max Planck Institute for International Law in Heidelberg, Germany.

Sam has taught as a visiting professor in the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He has a particular interest in China. He was the Director of the China Program at the UTS Faculty of Law and has served as a Visiting Professor at the China University of Politics and Law in Beijing.

He contributes regularly to general and specialist publications and radio broadcasts on legal issues.

Boafo has been a member of our legal team since the inception of our second branch. He deals primarily with diary management, liaising with lawyers, regarding existing and new litigation matters and generally giving guidance to more junior members of the team.
